MINNETONKA, Minn. - A "deer" friendship has formed at a Minnetonka home.
"They kept playing with each other and chasing each other around the lawn," chuckles Deb Olson. "It's crazy."
Olson sent this video to KARE showing her dog Gracie playing with a tiny fawn. It immediately created buzz on social media.
"I was outside gardening on Wednesday when I noticed two fawns," says Olson. "I've never seen them this close up."
By Thursday morning, it seemed as though the tiny deer had left, but then one reappeared in the afternoon. Immediately Gracie and the tiny deer rekindled their newly formed friendship.
The Olson family lives in a wooded area and seeing wildlife is not uncommon, but this is way out of the norm.
"We called the DNR and they told us to leave it alone," she says.
DNR officials ask residents to not only leave deer alone, but not to feed them either. They remind the public that taking wildlife as pets is illegal.
"We are leaving it be now," says Olson. "This has been exciting, but we really hope the mother comes and takes the fawn away."
