Two-year old Neegnco Xiong died Wednesday after his four-year old brother accidently shot him. The boy was playing with a gun that he apparently found in between a headboard and a mattress of a bed.
MINNEAPOLIS - A Minneapolis father faces the possibility of 10 years in prison after being found guilty on four of five criminal counts in connection with the accidental shooting death of his 2-year-old son.
The verdict against Kao Xiong was delivered Friday afternoon in Hennepin County District Court.
Xiong's son Neegnco was fatally shot by his 4-year-old brother after the boy found a handgun hidden between the mattress and headboard on Xiong's bed. '
Neegnco was shot in the stomach and did not survive.
Defense attorney Steve Meshbesher told KARE 11's Jay Olstad that the shooting was a terrible accident, and Xiong has already been punished enough through the loss of his beloved son.
Sentencing is set for June 27. The presumptive sentence is four years.
