BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. -- A 63-year-old Elk River woman was killed on Saturday afternoon in a three-car crash on Highway 169.
Authorities say the accident happened around 1 p.m. in the northbound lane of Highway 169 near 63rd Avenue in Brooklyn Park.
Louise J. Moyer was killed in the crash, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. She was the passenger on the motorcycle that her husband was driving. Leroy Moyer, 72, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Officials said that the early investigation shows that Leroy Moyer tried to avoid another vehicle that was stopped in traffic, but Moyer clipped the rear of the truck.
There were four other fatal crashes between Friday night and Saturday morning.
The state patrol is investigating a fatal crash on Highway 55 in Maple Lake on Saturday at about 9:15 a.m.
On Friday night, there was a fatal crash involving an SUV that crossed the center line and struck a semi head-on on Highway 25 near Gilman.
There were also two fatal crashes on Friday afternoon. One was in Houston County and the other was in Waseca County.
