KOHLER, Wis. - A semi-trailer full of Johnsonville sausages tipped over as it turned south onto Interstate 43 from Wisconsin 23 early Tuesday morning, spilling hundreds of boxes of food along the road.
The 6:24 a.m. accident forced the closure of both southbound ramps from Highway 23 to I-43 and the right lane of southbound I-43 at the interchange until early afternoon.
Both the overturned truck and the spilled food had to be cleared from the scene, according to Lt. Mark Rupnik of the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office.
Kohler Police Chief Bill Rutten told WTMJ-AM of Milwaukee that Johnsonville brats were found near the overturned truck.
There was, however, no word on whether tailgating was involved.
