MINNEAPOLIS - A fugitive wanted by the Minnesota Department of Corrections is behind bars after a violent crime spree that included carjackings and a kidnapping.
Minneapolis Police arrested Brandon Stark Thursday night after a car chase that led into St. Paul. Stark struck one moving vehicle and four parked cars before being taken into custody.
Police spokesman Sgt. William Palmer says the crime spree started earlier in the day in Foley, Minnesota, when Stark kidnapped a woman at knifepoint and drove to Minneapolis. At some point the woman was able to escape at 16th Street and California Avenue Northeast.
At that point Palmer says Stark Approached another female with a knife, but she was able to escape. A second woman wasn't as lucky: Stark carjacked her and they drove to a Holiday Gas Station at 46th and Hiawatha where his victim told Stark the vehicle was out of gas.
Stark tried to carjack another vehicle and that led to a struggle with two men. He escaped the scene after carjacking a different male and was driving towards St. Paul when a Minneapolis Police Officer responded to 911 calls and gave chase.
The crime spree ended on the 1900 block of Ford Parkway after Starks ran into the parked cars. He was arrested and transported to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) with minor injuries.
Charges could come Friday.
