GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - After weeks of training and teaching of America's favorite past-time will be heading to Africa.
Fernando Atannon has been learning the game first-hand here in Minnesota for the past five weeks.
That's because two-and-a-half years ago he served as a translator for a Minnesota youth baseball coach delivering eye glasses to the African nation of Benin.
Now they're hoping to give some of the game back to that country.
Atannon and his Minnesota sponsors Gary Tonsager and Wally Langfellow joined KARE 11 Sunrise to talk about his baseball mission.
Langfellow and Tonsager have created "Baseball in Benin" to help bring America's pastime to the African nation. More information is available at the organization's website.
