BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - Even with the beginning of summer, there are some who are thinking about winter.
"We're really excited," says Fred Seymour, Senior Manager at Hyland Ski and Snowboard Area in Bloomington.
The Three Rivers Park District recently approved a plan to spend $14 million to renovate the Hyland Ski and Snowboard Area.
Next spring, work will begin to tear down the 40-year-old buildings on the property to make room for a new chalet with massive lounge space, food courts and rental space.
"The needs of the guest have changed over the years and a new facility will reflect those needs," said Seymour. "This space is maxed out."
It's a little nostalgic for those with memories of Hyland, a ski area in Bloomington since the 1950s.
"I learned to ski here," says Wendy Kreuscher. "But it might be time for a facelift."
The plan is to break ground in April 2014. Revenue earned at the complex will help pay for the renovations.
