ROBBINSDALE, Minn. - A Wisconsin man badly injured in an attack by a black bear is being released Tuesday from North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
Jerry Brown of Shell Lake opened the door of his house to let out his dog Cricket around 9:30 p.m. June 17 and within seconds the 63-year-old was attacked from behind by the bear.
Despite being badly injured, Brown was able to run to his brother's house for help.
Brown underwent surgery at North Memorial for multiple injuries to the face, including the loss of his left eye. The bear also bit Brown on the left arm. He will be discharged to a short-term care facility for continued healing and rehabilitation.
