GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - June is PTSD awareness month and numbers just released highlight a growing need to get our military members the help they need when it comes to such mental health issues.
The report finds the number of military suicides nearly doubled in the last decade.
Last year, 350 military members took their own lives. That's higher than the 295 military men and women killed while on duty in Afghanistan.
Brian Engdahl is a research professor of cognitive science at the University of Minnesota, and works at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center, and visited KARE 11 to talk about PTSD and what's being done in MN to help those suffering from it.
