DULUTH, Minn. - Four children and one adult were injured in an escalator mishap in Duluth and taken to the hospital.
Police say officers were called to the downtown Wells Fargo building Wednesday afternoon after on a report of nearly two dozen children and adults stuck on an escalator.
Authorities say 20 children were being escorted down the escalator by their day care providers and were either holding or tethered to a rope. When they got to the bottom of the escalator some were afraid to get off the escalator, triggering a pileup at the bottom of the moving stairway.
One of the kids sustained what authorities are calling a "substantial" ankle injury. Others were treated for minor cuts and scrapes.
