EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Police say a woman in Eden Prairie was killed Friday evening after a tree fell on her. A 911 call came in at 5:21 p.m., reporting the sound of a tree falling and someone screaming.
Eden Prairie police responded to the scene at a walking trail in Miller Park at corner of George Moran Drive and Belfast Cove.
A woman was pinned under a very large basswood tree. The 56-year old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are trying to figure out why the tree fell. At the time, there were wind gusts up to 23 miles per hour.
The basswood tree was 90 years old and had a 30-inch diameter.
