GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - On Saturday, July 20, Second Harvest Heartland will host its second annual Pack-a-Thon, a daylong event in which participants will get actively engaged in hunger relief through a combination of fundraising and food-packing activities.
Prior to the event, each registered participant will pay a $25 fee to participate and will be encouraged to fundraiser. During the event, participants will work in two-hour shifts packing 30,000 pounds of food for distribution to food shelves throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
The goal for this year's Pack-a-Thon is to raise $60,000 and to pack more than 30,000 pounds of food. Between dollars raised and pounds packed, Second Harvest Heartland hopes the event will provide more than 260,000 meals to working families, children and seniors.
