SOUTH ST. PAUL, Minn. - Investigators are seeking public help in locating the person or persons responsible for setting nearly a dozen arson fires in South St. Paul Tuesday morning.
They believe those responsible may also be tied to a series of arsons that stretch back over two years time.
Fire crews were dispatched after reports of a garage fire on the 300 block of 8th Avenue South around 1:00 a.m. First responders arrived to find two detached garages ablaze.
While crews battled those fires a bystander approached and told them about a car fire a few blocks away. While on the way to that call numerous other fires were located by police officers and fire crews.
Police say the suspect or suspects set a boat and a handful of garbage cans in alleys on fire. Those fires were quickly contained and extinguished.
Fire investigators determined the fires to have been intentionally set, and believe they may be related to similar fires that have occurred in the same general area over the past two years.
The South Metro Fire Department and South St. Paul Police are asking that anyone with information on these fires to call 651-554-3300 or the Arson Hot Line at 1-800-723-2020.
