CENTURIA, Wis. - The keys to the vehicle in which a missing Wisconsin boy's body was found were in the trunk with him, according to pastor and Thies family friend Rick Van Gundy.
Van Gundy tells KARE 11 that two-year-old Isaiah used to watch his dad work on cars all the time, and wouldn't be surprised that the toddler would have known what to do with keys when he found them.
Isaiah Thies disappeared Tuesday night, and after an extensive search, a sheriff's deputy found his body in the trunk of a locked car outside the boy's home near Centuria late Wednesday evening.
A preliminary autopsy done by the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office indicated the boy was normally developed and well-nourished and had suffered no life-threatening injuries or bone fractures. He also wasn't sick.
Authorities say the Wisconsin toddler likely died of hyperthermia, a condition where the body temperature spikes.
Toxicology reports are pending.
