Father, 1-year-old son injured in crash with robbery suspect

MONTICELLO, Minn. - A father and son are in serious condition and one man is in police custody after a high speed chase ended in Monticello on Monday night.

According to Minnesota State Patrol, a 47-year-old man was wanted for an armed robbery in Big Lake. When confronted, he led police on a chase into Monticello.

At about 5:40 p.m., the suspect broadsided a car at the intersection of Broadway Street and County Road 39 while being pursued by Big Lake Police.

Travis Kolles, 28, and his 1-year-old son, Layton, both of Monticello, suffered critical injuries in the crash, according to the State Patrol. They were taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

The robbery suspect was hospitalized with minor injuries.

The crash and robbery remain under investigation.
