EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The Wisconsin State Patrol says a woman thought to be held against her will by a Minnesota man she met online and who texted for help was not abducted.
The patrol says the 32-year-old Edina, Minn., man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after traveling with the 19-year-old Whitehall woman in an SUV on Interstate 94.
Eau Claire County Sheriff's officials say the woman met the Edina man on an online dating service about a week ago. The man and woman spoke on the phone and agreed to meet.
The man agreed to drive from Minnesota to Whitehall, Wis. and take her to the Mall of America. The woman told police that when they reached Osseo, the man changed their plans to go to Mall of America. Then, according to police, the woman says the man started to "touch and caress her arm, neck and leg." She told the suspect she needed to use the bathroom and that is where she locked herself in the bathroom and called for help.
The Edina man was ordered into court for a disorderly conduct charge and released.
