GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - From last year's Olympics to this year's "Royal Baby," British mania is alive and well in the United States. Peg Rasmussen from Hamel's Countryside Cafe joined Pat Evans in the KARE 11 kitchen to share some fun ideas from Countryside Café and Catering for hosting your own afternoon tea party or tea time-themed event.

Here's the recipe for the delectable (and easy!) Meringue Surprises Peg made today:
Meringue Surprises (makes approximately 10 dozen):
4 egg whites
1-1/2 cups white sugar
1-1/2 cups of chopped nuts
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon cream of tartar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 12-ounce package semi-sweet chocolate chips
1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
2. Cover cookie sheet with parchment paper.
3. Beat egg whites, salt, cream of tartar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
4. Add sugar gradually, beating until stiff. Fold in nuts and chocolate chips.
5. Drop mixture by teaspoon onto cookie sheet. Bake 25 minutes.
