CORCORAN, Minn. - A 2-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a car in Corcoran Thursday evening. The boy's family tells KARE 11 that the boy's aunt was driving the car that killed her nephew.
A Hennepin County Sheriff's Department spokesperson say it happened in the 7800 block of Maple Hill Road.
Family members rushed the boy to the Maple Grove Hospital but he passed away because of the injuries.
The boy was in the street of a mobile home community called Maple Hills Estates. Corcoran is about 20 miles west of the Twin Cities.
The boy's uncle, Aldo Rodriguez says his family is devastated.
"We can't believe it," he said as his voice wavered.
It's still unclear how the accident happened, but investigators say no one has been arrested and they don't believe alcohol was a factor.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is investigating. A spokesperson for the agency says there is a language barrier between investigators and the family who speaks Spanish.
