COON RAPIDS, Minn. - A tragic crash that killed the T-Totalers of Minnesota Model T Ford Club president has members mourning the loss of a friend.
Bill Dubats' love for antique cars drew him to the T-Totalers of Minnesota. That's where Bill and his wife Jan met club president Karen Johnson.
"She was an enthusiastic person and enthusiastic for Model Ts," says Dubats. "She was the heart and soul of the club."
On Friday, while in Utah on an antique car tour, the Model T Karen was in slipped into the ditch and rolled. Two passengers were injured. Karen was killed in the crash near Utah's Zion National Park.
"It started off as a great day," said Dubats, who was also in Utah. "It's a sad loss."
Johnson was in her early 50s and was a mother of five children. She was also a 13-year veteran paramedic for Gold Cross Ambulance in Owatonna.
"She was always cheerful and loved to talk about her family and her kids," says Jan Dubats. "This was our worst nightmare."
"She was a giving person and a loving person," said Bill.
The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
