FREEPORT, Minn.- A Melrose man was transported to the hospital Sunday after his vehicle left the road, striking and coming to rest inside a Freeport house.
No one was home at the time, and the home owner arrived at the scene during authorities' investigation. At this time, alcohol does not appear to be a factor, according to the sheriff's office.
About 3:30 p.m. Sunday, the 27-year-old man was driving on Stearns County Road 11 when the vehicle went to the road's east side, crossed over several yards and hit the house, according to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office. The house on the city's south side is in the 1000 block of Second Avenue SE.
The man was the only one in the vehicle. He was taken to Melrose Hospital, then transported to St. Cloud Hospital. He was listed in fair condition Sunday evening.
