WILLMAR, Minn. - Authorities are searching for suspects in the apparent murder of a 79-year-old church volunteer inside her home near Willmar.
The body of Lila Warwick was found Monday evening by Kandiyohi County sheriff's deputies who were sent to her home on a welfare check.
Sheriff Daniel Hartog says someone from Redeemer Lutheran Church called the sheriff's office when Warwick failed to show up for her regular volunteer hours.
Her daughter Cheri tells KARE 11 that Warwick lived alone. She was an avid church-goer, volunteered at the preschool three times each week and counted donations on Sundays.
Even at age 79 she had planned to re-paint her house this summer. Her daughter says Lila had the money to pay someone to do the job, but felt like she had the energy and wanted to do it herself.
She was also a detailed planner, and even wrote her own obituary. Daughter Cheri says this has made her death easier to manage, and allows the family to focus on solving Lila's murder.
Anyone with information on who may have killed Lila Warwick is asked to call the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office.
