WASHINGTON, D.C. - After just one year the Mars rover mission is already being considered a smashing success by NASA.

Since its landing, the Curiosity Rover has made a number of discoveries.'

It scooped out soil to discover Mars is actually gray under its red surface.

And the rover found evidence Mars was once able to support microscopic life forms.

So far, it's only traveled a little over a mile on the Martian surface.

It'll pick up the pace over the next year, though, traveling five miles to its main destination, a three mile high mountain known as Mount Sharp.
