MINNEAPOLIS - It might only be preseason, but the beginning of the end for the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome had plenty of folks talking about what they might want to keep from the stadium.
"Yeah, I'll miss it," said Andy Crump.
Crump is the owner of Dome Souvenirs. His business is not far from the dome and has obvious ties to the stadium.
The avid Vikings fan said he remembers when Met Stadium was torn down.
"This is the seats out of the old Met Stadium," he said, pointing to a prized possession and noting that the fire sale was more like a final game loot.
"All during the game you could hear ratchets because people were loosening up the seats so at the end of the game they could just take them with 'em," he said.
The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority said that they are receiving tons of calls for both the turf and the seats.
KARE 11 also asked the average fan what they might want to remember the dome by.
"A lot of things I want are too big," one fan said. "Goal posts would be awesome to have in your backyard."
"I would take the big banners out front," another fan thought. "I would take the big Jared Allen."
Perennial tailgater Larry Spooner says he doesn't want a thing.
"This is one of the greatest seasons of our life," he explained. "We're getting rid of this dump. Think about it. The Minnesota Vikings have been jinxed ever since they went into this place!"
"We've been here for a long time," Crump said. "It's going to be sad to go, but I can see people wanting a change."
There will be some sort of a sale once the season's over, but the MSFA has not released those details yet.
Crews only have two months to get the place cleaned out before the dome is permanently deflated, officials said.
