MINNEAPOLIS - The body of a man was pulled from a car that drove through a fence and into the Mississippi River on Monday night.
Minneapolis police said the man was driving along West River Parkway near Mill Ruins Park at about 9:45 p.m. when he veered off the road and into the river.
Police said that the car was submerged in the water. Multiple search and dive teams were called in, but the rescue turned into a recovery.
The car was removed from the water early Tuesday morning. Police are not saying what events might have led to the car veering off the road.
The incident occurred on the downtown side of the river right by the Lock and Dam.
