BURNSVILLE, Minn. - Burnsville and Eagan police are searching for suspects after an early morning shooting Tuesday that left one person dead and sent another to the hospital.
Police say a vehicle drove into the Super America gas station on Cliff Road and Slater Road in Eagan around 2 a.m. Tuesday with two people inside who were suffering from gunshot wounds.
One of those victims was pronounced dead on the scene while the second was rushed to the hospital.
The shooting appears to have occurred on the 2100 block of East 117th Street in Burnsville, about one mile away from the Super America station. Police said that the shooting does not appear to be random.
Alec Beaton lives near where the shooting took place. He tells KARE 11 he woke to about six gunshots, ran to his patio window and saw an SUV speeding away with a man chasing it on foot.
"It was kind of a crazy thing to hear at 2:30 a.m.," he said. "Not something you expect when you live down here, usually pretty quiet."
Officers appeared to be wrapping up the scene at the gas station around 7 a.m., but the suspected shooting scene remains active as detectives talk to witnesses search for suspects.
