MAPLE GROVE, Minn--The Twin Cities Affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is bringing the PurpleRide to the Twin Cities on Sunday, September 15 in Maple Grove's Elm Creek Regional Park.
PurpleRide is a 25-mile or 8-mile family friends bike ride through Elm Creek Regional Park. Registration for the ride begins at 8:00 a.m. and offers the 8-mile ride beginning at 10:00 a.m., a 25-mile ride beginning at 8:30 a.m. and an 8-mile optional scenic challenge loop for riders of either route.
Heading the event is Lisa Beckendorf, who was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer fifteen years ago. Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States and has the lowest relative survival rate among leading cancer killers. Beckendorf has been dedicated to raising awarness about this disease.
