SHELBY COUNTY, Ohio - An Ohio man just wanted to buy a safe, but got far more than he had planned on.
The Shelby County man found and paid for the $1,700 safe, which was made in Mexico, but when it arrived there was an unexpected add-on inside.
Try 285 pounds of pot, with a street value of about $425M.
The purchaser immediately called police, who traced the delivery to a local distribution center and determined that the pot was placed in the wrong safe. Authorities tried to find the delivery truck driver, who they suspect was involved in the smuggling plot, but he had vanished.
Drug enforcement experts say safes are popular with drug smugglers as they are airtight, and product inside them can't be detected by drug-sniffing dogs.
