ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - It seems every weekend is full of another batch of lane closures, detours and orange barrels.
"There have been a lot of projects going on," said MnDOT spokesperson Kent Barnard. "There are lots of things that need to get done in a short period of time."
Barnard says there are currently more than a dozen metro projects requiring road or lane closures.
The patience does pay off according to motorists KARE 11 spoke to on Monday. Many who endured weekend after weekend of 169 closed are now pleased with new pavement.
MnDOT officials will keep construction away from the state fairgrounds this year and say they will pull as many crews off the roadways over Labor Day Weekend.
"We're going to be out of this construction season before you know," says Barnard. "We will be enjoying these new roads, safer, smoother, and with much better mobility."
