STILLWATER, Minn. - A Stillwater man did not need a cup of coffee to get a jolt this morning.
Stillwater Officer Ryan Mitchell says that about 5 a.m. Wednesday a Stillwater homeowner walked out onto his deck and went to pick up what he thought was a towel... until it began to move.
The man turned on his outdoor light and discovered it was a five-foot-long boa constrictor.
He called 911 and someone from the DNR came out. After about eight minutes of untangling, a herpetologist was able to gather the snake. After it was caught, the snake and delivered to the Minnesota Herpetological Society.
It is assumed the snake is someone's escaped pet. If no one claims it it can be yours after Sept. 6th.
Police say this was Officer Mitchell's first snake call.
