BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. - Police have taped off a large crime scene and are actively working a homicide investigation in Brooklyn Center Thursday morning.

Brooklyn Center Police spokesman Tim Gannon says squads were dispatched to the Super 8 Motel at 6445 James Circle North around 3:30 a.m. after a 911 call by a staff member on a report of a man knocking on doors.

When officers arrived they found the man outside, and quickly determined he had been shot. They attempted lifesaving efforts but the victim died on the scene.

Investigators are speaking with witnesses while technicians with the Hennepin County Crime Lab collects evidence at the scene. At this time there have been no arrests.

KARE 11 is following the story and will have the latest details as they become available.
