ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Paul Police say a 101-year-old woman is dead after being injured when an officer ran into her while backing up his squad car.

St. Paul Police spokesman Sergeant Paul Paulo says the incident occurred lFriday August 16th around 5 p.m while officers were out on a juvenile-related call in the 800 block of Cleveland Avenue.

Paulos says a St. Paul officer was backing up the squad car at a very slow speed and struck or bumped the woman, identified as 101-year-old Roza Sakhina, who then fell to the ground.

She died of her injuries Thursday.

The St. Paul accident reconstruction unit is conducting an investigation of the incident, and once work is complete the findings will be forwarded to the Ramsey County District Attorney's Office for potential charges, which Paulos says is standard procedure in case involving a police officer.

The identity of the officer involved in the accident will likely be released in the next day or two.
