BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. - A man was shot and killed by a police officer in Brooklyn Center early Friday following a traffic stop.
Major Kip Carver of the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office confirmed for KARE 11 that a blue van was pulled over on a traffic stop on the ramp at Shingle Creek Parkway and Interstate 94 around 2:20 a.m. At some point a struggle ensued, an officer pulled his weapon and fatally shot the suspect.
Authorities answered no questions or made comments on the nature of the traffic stop.
The scene remained active through the morning, shutting down a busy artery for the Friday morning commute.
It was the second major incident for Brooklyn Center Police in as many days. On Thursday officers were called to the Super 8 Motel on 6445 James Circle North after a man was shot and killed. At this point police have not said they have any suspects in that homicide.
