ST. PAUL, Minn. - Police are identifying the officer who struck and killed an elderly St. Paul woman last week.
Lori Goulet, a 16-year veteran of the St. Paul Police department, struck 101-year-old Roza Sakhima on August 16 while out on a call.
Goulet had said she was backing up the squad car at a very slow speed and struck or bumped the elderly woman who then fell to the ground and later died from her injuries a week later.
The St. Paul accident reconstruction unit is conducting an investigation of the incident, and once work is complete the findings will be forwarded to the Ramsey County District Attorney's Office for potential charges. The process is considered standard procedure in a case involving a police officer.
