FARIBAULT, Minn. - A drive-by shooting in Faribault late Thursday night is connected to two other recent drive-by shootings, according to the Faribault Police Department.
Police officers responded to a shooting on the 900 block of Central Avenue NW at about 11:45 p.m. There were several people including young children in the home that was targeted and hit by bullets, but nobody was injured, police said.
The evidence collected at the scene has been linked to a pair of other drive-by shootings in the past week, police said. They said the previous shootings occurred about 11 blocks to the south of Thursday's shooting.
On Thursday, witnesses reported at least two people in a small, dark-colored coupe fleeing from the scene. The car was seen heading northbound on Central Avenue following the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing and a task force has been formed to track down the suspect or suspects involved, police said.
"This type of violent crime is particularly alarming, and we need this dangerous person or persons identified and taken into custody as soon as possible," Chief Andy Bohlen said in a news release.
Anyone with information on any of the shootings should call the Faribault Police Tip Line at 507-334-0999.
