MINNEAPOLIS - Police are investigating after an attempted luring incident near a south Minneapolis school Friday afternoon.

Sergeant William Palmer says a six-year-old girl was approached near Green Central School by a man who tried to use candy to get the child to speak to him. This happened near the school's parking lot near East 34th Street and 4th Avenue South around 2:45 p.m. on Friday.

Palmer says the child did the right thing by going home immediately and reporting the incident.

The case will be sent to the Sex Crimes Unit for further investigation.

A description of the suspect has not been released.
