SHAKOPEE, Minn. -- The last checkered flag dropped at Raceway Park Sunday evening, marking the end of an era.
The popular track closed after 57 years of auto racing.
Raceway Park was Minnesota's first paved speedway, and one of the first in the Midwest.
Many major names in motorsports, both locally and nationally, have driven at Raceway over the years.
The property is set to become an asphalt plant.
Fans and drivers tell KARE 11 they're hopeful a new track will be built somewhere nearby, but there are currently no plans.
