MINNEAPOLIS - Several Panitzke family members remain at the Hennepin County Medical Center praying Chris Panitzke wakes up after being shot multiple times last Monday.
"He is in critical condition," said Chris's sister Megan Panitzke. "He has a breathing tube and he's under sedation."
Panitzke had been staying with his girlfriend, Kara Monson, in her Granite Falls home when they were both shot several times. Monson died from her wounds, Panitzke barely survived.
"We want to give condolences to Kara's family," said Megan. "We are thinking of them, too."
Police are actively investigating the case and are calling 28-year old Andrew Dikken a "person of interest." Authorities spotted his truck on Wednesday, but have not found Dikken. It is believed that Dikken had a past relationship with Monson.
"We want him to turn himself in, tell everyone that he did it, and show his face," says Megan. "We hope the public helps, too."
A memorial service for Kara Monson will be held in Granite Falls. She leaves behind a 4-year-old daughter. To help support the Panitzke family click here.
