ST. CLOUD, Minn. - A St. Cloud man is charged with second degree murder in the stabbing death of his mother.
Stearns County prosecutors announced the charges against 52-year-old Dean Allan Friese on Tuesday.
Police were dispatched to an apartment on the 400 block of 33rd Avenue North early the morning of September 4 after a 911 call from a man who said he had killed his mother.
Responding officers found Friese's mother laying on the floor with stab wounds to her chest. She was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy confirmed the cause of death to be multiple sharp force injuries.
During questioning investigators say the defendant acknowledged that he thought about killing his mother. The defendant stated that he pulled a medical alarm in his own apartment knowing she would respond, then retrieved a knife from the kitchen and stabbed his mother as she entered the apartment.
Dean Allan Friese is currently being held in the Stearns County jail. His next appearance is set for October 1.
