MINNEAPOLIS - A new concept is taking hold in the Twin Cities.
UMAMI by Travail opens on Wednesday, becoming the first full-service pop up restaurant in the state of Minnesota.
Managed by the owners of the popular Travail restaurant that's currently moving to a new location in Robbinsdale, the restaurant will offer an Asian inspired cuisine.
Restaurant owners have signed a lease through October at the space in North Minneapolis formerly occupied by Louisiana Fried Chicken. They got the space the day after Labor Day and have pulled it together in two weeks.
Chef and owner Mike Brown says UMAMI is a chance to unite the "gang" from Travail until the new restaurant opens but there is a chance it will stay open past October. "I think the menu is killer and I think people are really going to dig it and it does definitely have the potential to be something that is long term," he says.
Reservations for the first two weeks are full but more will be released soon. Reservations can be placed online here.
UMAMI by Travail is located at 904 W. Broadway Avenue.
