DELANO, Minn. - If you're planning to visit an apple orchard this fall, then news is good. This year's apple crop is the best local growers have seen in years.
Mike Dekarski with Apple Jack Orchards in Delano says it's their best crop since 2008, thanks to a good growing year with plenty of moisture. Dekarski says the only downside this year is later than normal picking, especially for honeycrisp apples.
Dekarski started Apple Jack Orchards back in 1984 alongside his father-in-law with around 240 apple trees. This year they have 10,000 of them, growing around 30 different varieties.
KARE 11's Bryan Piatt stopped by the orchard and gets the chance to fire the "apple canon."
