WASHINGTON, D.C. - Organizers of a new public awareness initiative are hoping to encourage U.S. service members, veterans and military families to seek help in coping with psychological health concerns.

The Real Warriors Campaign is designed to create awareness about resources available to service members for psychological health care, and to create more understanding of the obstacles service members face.

Numerous studies indicate that service members and veterans may be hesitant to reach out for care or support to maintain a successful life and career.

Dr. James Bender, a clinical psychologist with the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health, visited KARE 11 Sunrise to talk about the importance of the campaign and the common challenges service members may experience on their return from deployment.
