RICHFIELD, Minn. -- The friends of missing University of Minnesota student Anarae Schunk have launched their own search.

And they're getting help from Mandy Matula's brother, Steven, who has organized searches for his sister since she was last seen in May.

Schunk was last seen with her ex-boyfriend and his current girlfriend early Sunday morning.

That couple now faces charges in a Burnsville murder. Anthony Lee Nelson, otherwise known as Shavelle Chavez-Nelson, 31, is accused of shooting and killing Palagor Jobi at a Burnsville bar. Ashley Conrade, 24, is accused of harboring Nelson.

In the last six days, friends and family have spread the word about Schunk on Facebook, hoping to find both answers and Anarae.

"The more people that know that she's missing, the better chance we have of finding her. I mean, it's just that simple," said Robert Plunkett, Anarae's friend.

Meantime, the Schunk family is now asking anyone who wants to help search for Anarae to work with the Burnsville Police Department.

"I'm going to appreciate their level of care, of concern and willingness to actively participate. And I just hope that they, if they find anything, they bring it to our attention immediately," said Tyson Schunk, Anarae's brother.
