COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, Minn. - A woman is recovering from bullet wounds after two gunmen reportedly opened fire on the car she was in early Monday in Columbia Heights.
Squads were dispatched to the 1300 Block of Circle Terrace Northeast just before 2 a.m. on multiple calls of shots fired. When they arrived they found a 44-year-old Columbia Heights woman had been shot at least twice: Neither of the wounds is thought to be life threatening. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Both the victim and a 42-year-old man from New Brighton tell police they were sitting in the vehicle when two men approached on foot and began firing handguns into the car.
The suspects allegedly fled on foot but a white passenger car was seen speeding out of the area after the shooting.
Police say the first suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approx. 5 feet 9 inches tall with an average build, dressed in dark clothing. The second man is described as an African American male in dark clothing.
