LONSDALE, Minn. - A body has been found in Londsdale-Wheatland Township, about 45 minutes south of the Twin Cities metro area, according to the Rice County Sheriff's Office.
Officials said the body was found in a ditch on the 7000 block of 60th Street West at about 4:30 p.m.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has been called in to assist in the investigation.
The identity of the victim is unknown, officials said, but the family of missing U of M student Anarae Schunk tells KARE 11 they were asked to provide her dental records for authorities to determine whether the body found in Lonsdale is Anarae.
The 20-year-old was last seen more than a week ago with her former boyfriend at Nina's Grill in Burnsville, where that boyfriend is accused of fatally shooting a man after an argument.
Schunk's brother says police have told the family her jacket has been recovered, soaked in blood and filled with 18 to 20 holes, indicating she may have been stabbed.
Stay with KARE 11 for further details as they become available.
