GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn -- "Anyone can save a Life" (ACSAL) was created by the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) and Medtronic Foundation in 2008. The goal is to assist schools in the development and implementation of emergency action plans for after school practices and events.
Putting an emergency action plan together is simple. It is identifying the key information: closest AED, Cross-street intersection to let EMS how to best find you, nearest access point to the gym or field and then it is empowering students to be a part of the plan.
One coach cannot assist the student in need and provide a coordinated response by themselves. By assigning roles to students like calling 911, going to the predetermined location to meet the ambulance, getting the AED to the victim, prior to the emergency all the coach has to say is GO and students know what to do and help is on the way.
