KERHOVEN, Minn. - Authorities are looking for a motorist who led police, deputies and state troopers on a high speed chase Saturday night before getting away.
It began just after 8:30 p.m. on Highway 12 near the city of Kerkhoven when a Swift County Deputy pulled over a late model silver Pontiac Grand Prix-type vehicle for registration and equipment violations.
As the deputy was preparing to approach the suspect vehicle on foot the driver sped off at a high rate of speed. The pursuit reached speeds of 107 miles per hour on Highway 12, and continued on gravel roads south of Kerkhoven and Murdock.
The Minnesota State Patrol and Benson Police also took part in the high speed pursuit.
The chase was ultimately terminated after the deputy lost sight of the suspect vehicle on a gravel road. The suspect vehicle and driver are still at large.
The Swift County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who knows the identity of the driver or the location of the mid-to-late 2000s silver colored Pontiac Grand Prix type-vehicle with no rear license plate to call 320-843-3133.
