CALEDONIA, Minn. - Authorities Saturday identified three people who died in a plane crash near the Houston County Airport in Caledonia Friday afternoon.
The Houston County Sheriff's Office says all three victims were from Michigan. They are 79-year-old Joel Garrett, 49-year-old Dale Garrett and 50-year-old John Bergeron.
A 61-year-old man was the only survivor. The man was critically injured and airlifted to Gunderson Hospital in La Crosse.
WXOW-TV in La Crosse reported that a farmer found the crash site in a farm field about a mile south of the airport.
The incident was reported at about 4:30 p.m., but authorities believe the crash occurred about an hour earlier.
Craig Hatch, an air safety investigator with the NTSB, says that the plane was traveling from Michigan to South Dakota. It's believed the men were going on a hunting trip due to the camouflage clothing that was found at the scene.
Hatch says the investigation will continue over the next couple of days with a report being issued next week.
