MINNEAPOLIS -- One person is dead after a shooting at Epic Nightclub in downtown Minneapolis early Sunday morning.

Minneapolis police responded to the 100 block of 5th Street North just before 1 a.m. They said they found a man dead on the sidewalk outside of the club.

Police believe the victim and suspect had a verbal altercation inside of Epic. They think the suspect then shot the victim and left the area

The victim's sister tells KARE 11 that her brother, 27-year-old Tyrone Washington, was at the nightclub with his friends.

Nobody is in custody, police said. The investigation is ongoing.

Minneapolis Police Chief Harteau will be walking the downtown beat and visiting Epic Nightclub Sunday evening.

KARE 11 reached out the nightclub, but they declined to be interviewed.  Epic did post on Facebook, "Thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the victim last night.  So sad and so unnecessary."

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call MPD at 612-692-8477.
