EAGAN, Minn. - Nearly two months of investigating has failed to yield a suspect in a case of suspected arson that heavily damaged a historic building in Eagan.
Now detectives are hoping a bicycle found near the fire scene could lead to a suspect.
The fire at the Eagan Historic Town Hall was discovered early the morning of September 8 by a police officer on patrol. By the time Eagan fire crews arrived the building was engulfed in flames. Although it suffered significant damage the majority of the old town hall can be saved.
Although evidence has been hard to come by, authorities have now released a photograph of an abandoned bicycle found near the fire scene. Investigators believe it may have been used by an adult suspect to flee the scene.
The bike is described as a 21-speed blue and white K2 Zed 24 mountain bike, Serial Number G100200340. It has a black "Master" combination lock and associated cable wrapped beneath the handle bars. The bike may have been purchased from "Sports Authority," and would have been missing prior to September 8, 2013.
