MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Vikings receiver Jerome Simpson was in Hennepin County Jail Saturday morning after being arrested on a misdemeanor DWI charge.

Police say a trooper responded to a stalled vehicle blocking lanes on I-394 out of downtown Minneapolis around 4 a.m. Saturday.  When they arrived, Simpson exited the vehicle.  Police say Simpson showed signs of intoxication.

According to a jail spokesperson, Simpson, 27, refused a breathalyzer and was arrested on probable cause. Jail records show he was booked at 5:39 a.m. Saturday. He was released on $12,000 cash bond.

It wasn't immediately clear how the arrest could impact Simpson's probation stemming from a guilty plea on a felony drug charge in April 2012.

Simpson could also be facing league discipline after serving a three-game suspension last season. He has 33 catches for 491 yards this season.

"The Vikings are aware of the matter involving Jerome Simpson," the team said in a statement. "We are continuing to gather information and will have further comment at the appropriate time."
